School of Athens

The school of Athens is a magnificent fresco by Ragasal. It was in AD. A design drawn from the Vatican City of Rome in 1508-11. This design is one of the most important paintings completed in the Stanza della Segnatura room of the Vatican Palace in Rome. This huge picture is created in the fresco technique in the classic form of an arched wall.

Critics call the skill and genius shown in juxtaposing images on architectural space a masterpiece of design. The painting depicts the ancient Greek school of philosophy, in Athens. In the center of the painting are the philosophers Plato and Aristotle.

The rest of the philosophers are shown in the picture space from the middle to the bottom of the picture. They are also shown engaging in arguments. The upper part of the painting shows an architectural space with a monocentric perspective of arches and towers.

The fact that this philosophical world is presented by the combination of active human figures is a special feature of these paintings. Various shades of brown, various shades of dark yellow, rhubarb, and white have been used in the painting.
